Dr. Khairat Oluwakemi Akanbi is a Reader in the Department of Business Law, Faculty of Law of the University of Ilorin. She has taught both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the areas of Arbitration, Company and Corporate Governance Law; Banking and Insurance Law; and Industrial Law. She has also served as the faculty postgraduate coordinator for Common Law. She is presently the course advisor for the year 4 students of the faculty. She has supervised several postgraduate theses in different areas of business law. Her research interests are Company Law, Industrial Law, and Human Rights.

Dr. Akanbi is a member of many professional bodies including the Nigerian Bar Association, The International Federation of Women Lawyers, the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers, and the Academic Staff Union of Universities. She is a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration (UK).
