PROF O. Y. Abdul-Hamid was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992, he obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B), Master of Laws (LL.M), and Master of Philosophy in Laws (M.Phil) in 1991, 1998, and 2007 respectively, from the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He capped his academic laurels with a Ph.D from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

Prof Abdul-Hamid, Oba Yusuf has supervised and currently supervising a number of doctoral theses, several master dissertations, and many undergraduate long essays in Law. He was a Member of the Group of Experts on the Revision of the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria at the Nigerian Law Reform Commission (NLRC), Abuja in 2017. He is currently a member of the National Bar Association (NBA) Education Committee.
